Congratulations to DPR client, Venture for America (VFA), on its recent visit to the White House to meet President Obama!
VFA is a recently launched not-for-profit designed to do for entrepreneurship what Teach for America has done for education—bring young, talented grads to disadvantaged communities for at least two years. The first group of 50 “VFA Fellows” will join start-ups in Detroit, New Orleans, Providence, and Cincinnati in the fall of 2012.
“It was a pretty amazing experience. I was seated next to President Obama (!!!) for 45 minutes,” said an elated Andrew Yang, VFA’s Founder and President, on the organization’s official blog. As one of twelve “Champions of Change” alumni, Andrew had the opportunity to talk with the President and share with him VFA’s recent activities and successes.
In addition to meeting the President, Andrew was interviewed for a video by the White House Office of Public Engagement. Last but not least, the first class of VFA fellows were invited to visit the White House later this year.
“It was one of the most memorable days of my life…Thank you all for making today happen,” Yang said.
Dukas Public Relations is proud to be supporting VFA’s laudable efforts on a pro bono basis and we are elated that the White House has highlighted the organization’s work.
