What should prospective PR executives know before they sit down for an in-person interview?

Seth had a chance to reflect on what he would have done differently with the benefit of hindsight (take business courses in college) and how his journalism experience and that of many DLPR colleagues helps us work well with reporters, editors and producers.
As someone who regularly interviews candidates, Seth offered these takeaways:

- Learn basic business literacy so you can talk about how money moves, not just messaging or marketing.
- Build your voice early through public speaking, theatre, or any environment that forces you to perform under pressure.
- Read outside your bubble so you can handle clients and journalists with different views.
- Use AI for speed, then prove value by checking accuracy and adding human judgement and creativity.
